What Are The Summer Slumps? During the summer months, many feel less motivated and focused on work. The New Year's rush is long gone, kids are home from school, and the warm weather calls us away from our desks. So how do we stay on top of our work when the summer slumps get us down? Top Tips For Managing Your Summer Workload: 1. Know when and how to delegate Summer vacations are the perfect opportunity to practice your delegation skills. Whether with others in the office, an assistant or freelancer, or possibly family and friends, delegating can take considerable pressure off your shoulders. Rather than leave work to pile up and cause stress, ask your assistant to check in on your emails and remove any junk or spam, assign co-workers or colleagues tasks that are timely and important, and make sure to create a check-list of any items you won't be able to get to during your time away to share with those that you might be able to delegate to.
2. Take the breaks This might sound counter-intuitive, but taking breaks is a HUGE part of mastering efficiency and creating a work-life balance that helps you thrive. Allow yourself the time and space you need to recharge, if you don't, you'll end up feeling burnt out or resentful and overall less productive. 3. Re-assess/ reset your routine With summer comes new responsibilities, more daylight, and often different daily patterns. Give yourself the time and patience to reassess what the best possible routine might look like for you. Maybe you wake up early to exercise, but with the sun going down later you're finding it hard to get enough sleep. Consider starting work a bit earlier (if you are able) and heading out for an exercise in the afternoon. Don't be afraid to shift your schedule and routines with the seasons, as this will help to maximize your days and efficiency when you follow the pattern and routine that fits best with your current life.
